Algevon Eichelberger is just one of five who has been chosen to represent the Cleveland State University men’s basketball team for the Preseason All-Horizon League Second Team. The senior was a Horizon League All-Third Teammember for the 2019-20 season
Eichelberger led the team in three statistics: average points (14.5), rebounds (6.4), and blocked shots (0.9). The forward also scored in the double digits in 25 of his games; six of these were 20-plus point games and four of them were double-doubles. Eichelberger was also selected as a team captain for the Vikings this season.
Despite the CSU men’s basketball team being predicted to finish dead last in the 2019-2020 season, they ended up placing seventh in the league with an 11-21 record, under the Horizon League’s co-coach of the year (2019-2020), Dennis Gates.
In spite of overcoming league expectations last year, the team is still only expected to finish seventh out of 12 teams in the Horizon League. It will be exciting to watch what Eichelberger accomplishes in his last year of collegiate basketball. Under Head Coach Gates, Eichelberger will have the opportunity to build chemistry with the rest of the team and lead them into an exciting season.
