The 10th annual CSU Giving day will be held on Feb. 16 (2-16, after the Cleveland area code).
According to the Giving Day website, the goal of Giving Day is “to engage 2,023 unique donors during the campaign as well as to create a friendly competition among the colleges, departments and centers to raise funds for initiatives across Cleveland State University.”
The CSU Giving Day Website currently lists 25 participating groups that include CSU Student Success, Athletics, Student Life, and the CSU Police Department Therapy Dog Program. Most of the participating groups have many subgroups. For example, within the Athletics group, donors will be able to choose which of the 16 programs they wish to support.
In addition to donations, students who want to become involved in Giving Day can become an Ambassador to help gather support and spread the word about the event.
The Ambassadors with the most donors recorded from each of three areas will receive an additional $1,000 for their program. The three areas are the top athletics Ambassador, the top school or department Ambassador, and the top Ambassador from all other participating groups. To become an Ambassador, visit the CSU Giving Day Website.
Giving day also offers opportunities to multiply the impact of donations. For example, a donor may choose to match donations during a certain hour. So, if one person decides to donate $5, the donor will donate an additional $5, and the process continues for each donation through the hour. There are also opportunities for donors to be entered to win prizes such as a free Continuing Legal Education class from the CSU|LAW Alumni Association.
Donation trackers and a Donor Wall will be available online once Giving Day begins. Interested donors can visit csugivingday.com, and gifts received through the project launch (1:00 pm on Feb. 15 for early giving) until noon on Feb. 17, 2023 will be counted for giving day. The minimum donation is $5.
Donors are welcome to support multiple areas. They can also choose to select the “Other” option under the Fund Designation menu if the fund they wish to support is not listed.
“All gifts, of any size, make a difference in the lives of CSU students! Also, since over 70% of CSU graduates remain in the area, a gift to CSU is ultimately an investment in Cleveland!” according to the Giving Day Website.
A Giving Day Party will be held in the Student Center Atrium from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Feb. 16 with free food, prizes, and opportunities to thank donors.
