The 2023 report includes Cleveland State University in their best Online Programs ranking among other Ohio colleges
Cleveland State University was again recognized in the 2023 U.S. News & World Report’s rankings of schools that offer online bachelor’s and master’s degree programs.
CSU received rankings in four categories: Best Online Master’s in Nursing Programs, Best Online Master’s in Business Programs, Best Online Master’s in Education Programs and Best Online Bachelor’s Programs. The university is also considered number one in Ohio for social mobility.
These accolades represent the quality of the university’s 20 plus available online programs.
“With all of our programs, we strive to provide an excellent academic experience for our students, both on and off campus,” CSU President Laura Bloomberg, Ph.D., said in a news release. “Our faculty members and administrators work diligently to create online courses that are engaging, challenging and transformative.”
For Best Online Master’s Nursing Programs, CSU ranked 109 among 10 other Ohio colleges. For Best Online Master’s in Business Programs, CSU ranked 154 out of 224 programs and eight out of 10 Ohio universities. For Best Online Masters in Education program, CSU ranked 189 out of 329 programs and no. 12 out of 17 Ohio programs. Lastly, for Best Online Bachelor’s Program, CSU ranked no. 272 out of 359 programs and no. 12 out of 14 Ohio colleges.
“These rankings highlight the recognition of the quality of our online programs at CSU,” Sajit Zachariah, Ph.D., Vice Provost and Dean, CSU Online, said in the release. “Providing access to excellent online programs to the communities we serve is an important focus of our strategic plan.”
Rankings for best online programs are calculated with data provided by the university. Factors considered in the process of ranking include engagement, faculty credentials and training, peer assessment, services and technologies and student excellence. To produce the overall scores, U.S. News takes the raw category scores prior to rescaling and multiplies them by the category weights.
Controversy over the rankings arose in September 2022 after Columbia University went from being ranked number two to 18. U.S. News was questioned for its reliability since they receive data from the institutions.
All of CSU’s online education classes are recorded and archived so students can access the information on their time. The online courses are taught by full-time faculty who teach face-to-face classes and designed to simulate face-to-face experiences.
The application deadline for online education degree programs at CSU is currently rolling.
