Laughter and chatter filled the air as over 60 students, peers, and friends were embraced into an evening of Palestinian culture. The event was hosted by Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights (SPHR) but featured the Art of Freedom Dabke Troupe (AOF) from Ohio State and the new branch at Cleveland State. The event was held from 4 to 8 p.m on Oct. 23 in the Student Center Glasscock Ballroom at Cleveland State University.
The evening included a traditional Middle Eastern buffet from Ya Hala Market and Grill and multiple performances from the AOF groups. Guests were invited to participate in dancing, canvas and tote bag painting, and henna.
“Celebrating and honoring any culture is so important,” said Leila Gheith, CSU alumni. “I am glad I was able to be a part of and attend this event.”

SPHR’s next event will be held on Nov. 18 from 6 to 9 p.m. The group intends to feature a screening of the Palestinian movie, Boycott.
Future events for SPHR can be found on the group’s Instagram page (@CleStateSPHR).
