University leadership continues to shift as CSU 2.0 implementation progresses

An interim Vice President for Research and Innovation has been selected, following the departure of Dr. Forrest Faison earlier this month. Dr. Meredith Bond, current dean of the College of Sciences and Health Professions, will take over the role beginning in November.
Dr. Bond has served as dean of the College of Sciences and Health Professions for over 10 years, following roles as chair of the physiology department at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and as a senior researcher in the Department of Molecular Cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic.
“I was impressed with her ideas for engaging students in research initiatives, building collaborative research partnerships across academic disciplines and deepening our connections to key research initiatives regionally, nationally and internationally,” shared CSU’s Provost, Dr. Laura Bloomberg, in an email to the campus community.
The email also announced the beginning of a search for two new deans, who will be responsible for the newly configured colleges outlined in CSU 2.0. These include a reconfigured College of Sciences and Health Professions, which will be expanded to encompass social work and exercise science programs, and a new College of Arts and Sciences, including many of the programs formerly in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, which it is replacing.
The university is partnering with a national search firm, and hopes to have the new deans hired by July 1, 2022. Until then, Dr. Bond will continue in the role of dean alongside her new responsibilities as interim Vice President for Research and Innovation. Dr. Allyson Robichaud, interim dean in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, will retire from her position next summer after over 20 years at CSU.
